PRESS RELEASE: WGFB Now Benefiting Hillsborough County

Wild Game Food Bank is Now Benefiting Hillsborough County, Fla. by Providing Wild Game Meat Donations to those in need.
Dover, Fla. –Wild Game Food Bank (WGFB) is now coordinating wild game meat donations to help feed members of the Hillsborough County, Fla. community in need. Meat donations will be distributed through Manna On Wheels. Manna On Wheels is a mobile kitchen that provides meals to children, families, and homeless in Hillsborough.

Insufficient protein is a great concern for those who face food insecurity, and WGFB is making an impact to combat this. WGFB provides a healthy meat supply to those who otherwise might not have it, and has a goal to reach more members of the community in the months to come.

“We were excited when we heard of interest for an outfit in Hillsborough,” explained Caitlin Meadows, Co-Founder and Managing Director of WGFB. “To our surprise solidifying the operation moved quickly. We secured a meat processor and found a very worthy organization to distribute the meat to.”

Al’s Wild Meat Processing, Inc. of Riverview, Fla. serves as the designated Hillsborough meat processor. Manna On Wheels is currently the sole Hillsborough benefiting organization. In time, with community support, WGFB hopes to grow to serve as a healthy meat supply for other food service ministries as well.

WGFB began operating during Fall 2013 in Polk County, Fla. In the first nine months of operation, WGFB raised enough meat to provide 5,100 servings to Polk’s homeless community and others in need.

“We are hopeful that Hillsborough will see the same success as Polk, and that both outfits will thrive in the upcoming deer season,” said Meadows. “But luckily, we can accept hogs and other meat meantime.”

Support can be given in the form of meat donations, or tax-deductible fund support that pays for the necessary meat processing expenses. For more information visit http://www.wildgamefoodbank.com, E-mail WildGameFoodBank@gmail.com, or call (863)-845-6562.
